TYCOBBIA STARS TROUNCES RUTHLANIA 16-7
In the highest-scoring All-Star Game in history the Tycobbian Stars trounced Ruthlandia 16-7, pounding them for 17 hits... the TU All-Stars scored the most runs ever in the series and the two teams combined for a new record as well. Tycobbia set the old mark with a 14-6 victory in 2008... 23 runs is the new record for both teams, topping the old mark of 20, also established in 2008... Tycobbia upped its lead in the All-Star series to 26-13.
LF Adam Thurgood (North Hills) picked up the Most Valuable Player honor with two hits in three tries... he scored twice and slammed a three-run homer, edging out C Corky DiNozzo (Kenwood), who had a grand-slam home run.
The Ruthlandian Stars racked up 14 hits and were led by CF Darrell Donnelly (Wynnamac) with a perfect 3-for-3 day, including two doubles... CF Scotty Lagrange (Eastshore) went 2-for-2 and walloped a two-run roundtripper.
Tycobbian starter Jeff Owens (North Hills) notched the win with 2 scoreless frames... Owens departed with a 3-0 lead... the Ruthlandian loser was starter Jeremy Kirk (St. John), who was whacked for 3 scores and 3 hits in the opening inning.
