What a regular season
October 5th, 2021
Final Record - W - 119 / L - 37

Where to begin? Well let's start with the Rockies winning 119 games this season, 3 better than the MLB record previously held by the 2001 Seattle Mariners and the 1906 Chicago Cubs. The same Chicago Cubs in 1906 had the best winning percentage ever at .763 when they went 116 - 36 was tied by the Rockies. If you want to get technical the Cubs were still barely better due to playing 4 games less their win percentage was .0003 percentage points.
Last month we spoke about LF Yasukazu Tsuchiya and his quest for a HR title and in the final game of the season Tsuchiya tied Roger Maris's old record with his 62nd home Run of the season. Speaking of Home Run #'s if you want to see impressive check out the Home Run Totals below when we list each players stats for the season. In other batting title news SS Steve Wallace had his first full season in replacement of Troy Tulowitzki and what did he do? He went and took the NL batting title with an average of .333 and OBP of .440 to include 38 home runs.
Last but definitely not least we want to point out
SP Willie Calhoun. If you look back to 2017 when he was drafted in the first round by the Rockies out of high school we didn't know if he would end up a pitcher or a First Baseman. Well he ended up being a pitcher and was called up in July this year after Bill Scott was traded away. On the mound the kid called barnyard due to his size at 6'8" and 250 lbs was unbelievable going 12-0 with a 1.90 ERA in 17 starts. Even more frightening for opposing teams though is that this is a pitcher that can hit, this season in 35 total at bats Calhoun hit .314/.333/.429 with 1 HR and 2 RBI. What will this kid do next year.
