2040 IPA PRO CUP SERIES - Game Two
SUNSETS BEAT BULLS AGAIN, DE BOER WINS 7-2
It was a close game for four innings, then Summerland pulled away with five runs over the next four frames for a 7-2 victory over Ranford to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven IPA Pro Cup Finals... another southpaw Dutch De Boer put the quietus on the Bulls for the second day in a row... De Boer (2-0/2.10) worked seven solid innings, striking out nine, walking two and permitting only two runs on seven hits... Lloyd Anderson got the save, his first of the playoffs... He retired all six batters he faced in the eighth and ninth... Lanny Smithers (3-2/4.38) was the loser... he was banged around for five runs on nine hits in six innings.
The Sunsets got 11 hits and were sparked by 3B Norm Van Kieken (.280), who drove in three runs with a 2-run double and a sac fly... CF Antonio Vasquez (.296) added three hits and scored twice... and 1B Stan Terry (.232) chipped in with two hits, three runs and an RBI... the Bulls were held to seven hits... RF Dale Weston (.316) and LF Sparky Sparks (.313) got two hits apiece.
