Roster Expansion

The calendar turns to September, we head into the last month of the 2012 season. It is time to expand the rosters and give those minor league players a shot. We have run the entire season with only 31 men on our 40 man roster, so the only call up we will have at this time is going to Bartolo Salazar to give some additional relief to the bullpen. North Berwick (AA) has a couple starting pitchers who are ready to move up but they are making a run at the post season and I don’t want to disrupt their chances at title.

Playoff Picture

National League

Eastern Division
Baltimore (80-61, .657)
Washington (69-72, .489) – 11 GB

Central Division
Columbus (88-53, .624)
Madison (85-56, .603) – 3 GB

Western Division
Dallas (77-64, .546)
Mesa (75-66, .532) – 2 GB

Wild Card
Madison (85-56, .603)
Kansas City (78-63, .553) – 7 GB
Mesa (75-66, .532) – 10 GB
Detroit (75-66, .532) – 10 GB

The eastern division is all but decided, it take a miracle run by Washington to make up the ground. Madison continues to fight to keep up with Columbus, but continues to lose ground; in August Columbus went 20-8 compared to our 18-10, thus we lost two games. The Western Division look to remain up for grabs between Dallas and Mesa

American League

Eastern Division
Indianapolis (89-52, .631)
Philadelphia (84-57, .596) – 5 GB

Central Division
Ft. Worth (92-49, .652) – Magic #4
Houston (74-67, .525) – 18 GB

Western Division
San Jose (88-53, .624) – Magic #5
Los Angeles (71-70, .504) – 17 GB

Wild Card
Philadelphia (84-57, .596)
Cleveland (84-57, .596)
Houston (74-67, .525) – 10 GB

The only drama in the American League appears to be the wild card contest between Philadelphia and Cleveland. Philadelphia has an outside chance at a run in the Eastern, in which case Indianapolis would be chasing the Wildcard.
