1983 - NLCS Preview
The NLCS will feature the Cincinnat Reds (87-75) against the New York Mets (96-66) in a rematch of last years NLCS. The Reds earned the NL West crown by 5 games over Houston while the Mets bested the Cardinals by 6 games in the East.
The Reds were tops in the NL in homers having four starters with over 20 homers - Johnny Bench (37), George Foster (26), Bernie Carbo (22), and Dan Driessen (22). The New York Mets have the top offense in the NL leading in runs scored and batting average (.282) while being only behind the Reds in HR's. THe Mets are led by MVP candidate Kent Hrbek who had a phenomenal season hitting .329/.401/.601 with 46 HR's and 153 RBI's. He's part of a 1-2 punch with catcher Dan Graham who hit .295/.335/.541 with 38 HR's and 132 RBI's.
