RANCHEROS EVEN SERIES AT 3-3
With their backs to the wall, San Dimas snapped a 3-3 tie in the last of the seventh on Denny Throckmorton's game-winning solo homer to defeat defending Pro Cup champion Ranford 6-3 and deadlock the series at three games apiece... in the same inning Klaus Stordahl added a two-run single to complete the scoring... the Rancheros were down three games to one after four games, but they have come back and forced a game seven tomorrow afternoon at Ranchero Stadium... both clubs will have their aces on the hill... Ralph Hawk (2-0/1.04) for the Bulls and Gil Arnaud 90-2/3.38) for the Rancheros.
San Dimas got a fine start out of Dale Huff (2-0/3.38), who stymied the Bulls on three runs and five hits, while fanning nine batters and walking none... Seth Dawson came on and close it out with a 1-2-3 ninth... Ranford starter Duffy Davidson (0-1/6.43) was hung with the loss... the Rancheros shelled him for six runs on 11 hits in seven innings.
San Dimas outdid Ranford at the plate 11 to 5 with 3B Leonard Purkey (.320) getting two hits, including a two-run shot in the third, his second home run of the playoffs... Stordahl (.250) had two hits and two RBIs... Throckmorton (.286), C Hermie Goetz (.346) and RF Denny Hendrix (.263) also chipped in with two hits each... 1B Maury Quave (.542) led the Bulls with two hits... C Arlo Guthrie (.087), 3B Pete Bankston (.333) and SS Stan Cobb (.261) drove in the Ranford runs.
