2013 was a great year in terms of my baseball card project. Thanks to all the contributors of the great images.
One thing I have had to do given my support of both Actionpc and Replay games was to make available cards using both naming formats. That has all changed now. With the recent upgrade of APC, the naming formats are now the same for both games and as a result, my cards will now be different from previous releases.
This will require some work on your part if you use them for APC. I have removed the year and year ranges; instead keeping the cards in individual seasonal folders. The cards will also no longer be provided in team folders. The naming structure is as follows:
Hank_Aaron_MIL
Other tasks that I am still completing myself is to change the Manager names in APC to include the _ between first and last name so that they are the same for both games. If a manager was on more than one team for a given season, his name on the second team will be as follows.
Billy_Martin_
Something different for Replay gamers is that instead of only having one card for each player per team, there will now be multiple images available for most players including a default card. For instance, you will find the following for most players:
Lee_Maye_HOU
Lee_Maye_HOUc
Lee_Maye_MIL
Lee_Maye_MILc
Lee_Maye_MILd
Those with multiple cards will have letters (a-z) to designate the extra cards. The default for each team will of course be the name without the letter suffix. I have gone through every player from all of the 18 seasons I have created cards for (1956-1973) and hope that I haven't missed anyone.
I do regret that there are some other differences between the two games which will require some extra work. The team abbreviations are not identical for both games. The teams that are different are also not consistent with regards to Replay. It only includes 3 teams which I will identify now with the seasons they differ. In fact, here are the teams which are the same for each of the seasons they appear.
ATL=Atlanta Braves
BAL=Baltimore Orioles
BOS=Boston Red Sox
BRO=Brooklyn Dodgers
CAL=California Angels
CHA=Chicago White Sox
CHN=Chicago Cubs
CIN=Cincinnati Redlegs/Reds
CLE=Cleveland Indians
DET=Detroit Tigers
HOU=Houston Colt .45s/Astros
KCA=Kansas City Athletics/Royals
LAA=Los Angeles Angels
LAN=Los Angels Dodgers
MIL=Milwaukee Braves/Brewers
MIN=Minnesota Twins
MON=Montreal Expos
NYA=New York Yankees
OAK=Oakland Athletics
PHI=Philadelphia Phillies
PIT=Pittsburgh Pirates
SDN=San Diego Padres
SEA=Seattle Pilots
SFN=San Francisco Giants
TEX=Texas Rangers
The three teams which have different abbreviations for various seasons are the following:
NYN=New York Giants/Mets for every season except 1957 when it is NY1 for the Giants.
STL=St. Louis Cardinals for every year except 1960, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1969, 1971 and 1972 when it is SLN.
WAS=Washington Senators/Senators for every year except 1957 and 1960 when it is WSH.
I was forced to use the name used in Replay since that cannot be modified like APC. There were also some different rules in Replay which included not having periods in names like J.C._Martin. I have removed them for both games but may have missed one here and there. The same goes for when middle initials are used; I will update any names I have missed in future updates. Because of the before mentioned limitation of not being able to modify player names in Replay, I will abide by whatever name is used there for both games.
Because of all of these changes all of my previous cards have been removed from my website and replaced with the new format. Each season zip file will include one folder with every card I have created for every player for that season (no longer separated by team folders). I regret any extra work this may cause you but it has most definitely reduced the amount of work needed going forward. I no longer need to have two complete sets of cards for each player. In fact, I also kept a third set previously which I used as a master so I have reduced my cards by 2/3. As I said, I will include name corrections in subsequent updates once I notice them.
Thanks again to all who have helped with this project. Happy 2014!
