2042 IPA PRO CUP FINALS - Game One at Colfax
WILKERSON'S 3-RUN HR WHIPS COLFAX 5-3
Playing out-of-town in Colfax, the South Fork Stallions took a page out of the Blasters' playbook... Jess Wilkerson walloped a three-run homer in the top of the eighth to give the Stallions a 5-3 triumph in the opening game of the 2042 IPA Pro Cup Finals... all three runs were unearned... 25-game winner Jay Murphy (4-3/3.93) worked seven innings for the win though he allowed three runs on six hits with five strikeouts and no walks... Gary Golden (0-0/0.00) pitched a perfect two innings for his fourth save in the postseason.
Nilos Andris (3-1/2.45) tasted defeat for the first time in the playoffs, but he only permitted two earned runs... in all, South Fork pelted him for five runs on 11 hits... Andris walked five and struck out five... both clubs scored two runs in the opening inning... Colfax took the lead on SS Mickey Eldridge's (.238) solo shot in the fifth, but Andris couldn't make the 3-2 lead stand up... Wilkerson (.373) socked three hits in five tries and CF Scotty O'Sullivan (.296) went 2-for-5 with an RBI... and 2B Pete Arnold (.250) scored twice for the Stallions... Wilkerson now has three homers in the postseason with 10 RBIs... LF Chet Penn (.306) and 3B Kristian McEly (.235) each drove in a run for the Blasters... Penn is tops for Colfax with 13 RBIs in the postseason.
