2042 IPA PRO CUP FINALS - Game Four at South Fork

SOUTH FORK SWEEPS PRO CUP
For the second time in its history South Fork is the best team in the Islands. This time around it was much easier than in 2025 when the Stallions had to come back from a 3-2 deficit before subduing Middlefield in a frantic, seven-game clash. 17 years later South Fork won in a breeze, sweeping favored Colfax in four games for the IPA Pro Cup trophy. The Stallions entered the playoffs as the number seven choice. The Blasters were the fourth-ranked club in The Islandian Times Pro Cup poll. Southport, Kenwood and Hartsdale of the Tycobbian Union were rated numbers 1, 2 and 3.

The Stallions wrapped up the title with an 8-3 decision at home at Jock Ewing Stadium. They snapped a 3-3 tie with a five-run outburst in the sixth off losing pitcher Nilos Andris, who forced in the winning run when he walked pinchhitter R. J. Aldridge with the bases loaded... Pete Arnold and Jess Wilkerson followed with two-run singles to pad the lead... Jay Murphy (5-3/3.98) had just enough for the win as he allowed three runs on six hits in six innings... Mike Lambertini (0-0/1.86) was outstanding coming in from the bullpen... Lambertini retired all nine batters he face to get his second save in the postseason... Andris (3-2/3.18) was ineffective as the Stallions popped him for eight runs and eight hits in five and a third innings.

At the plate it was SS Jess Wilkerson (.400), 2B Pete Arnold ((.257) and C Paul Richardson (.271), who led the South Fork charge... Wilkerson had three hits, including a homer that tied the game in the fifth, plus he drove in three runs... Wilkerson hit .400 and totaled six homers and 18 RBIs in a sensational postseason performance... in game four Arnold had a pair of hits and two RBIs... and Richardson had a two-run blast in the second, which gave the Stallions a short-lived 2-0 lead... the Blasters shot ahead in the top of the third on a two-run double by CF Geno Calabrese (.270) and an RBI single by 3B Kristian McEly (.222).

Winning manager Blackie Terramova told reporters, "The key factor was our hitting and our relievers... everybody in the batting order did their part with Wilkerson especially standing out... in the bullpen it was Golden with four saves... unbelievably he retired all 15 batters he faced in the playoffs... and Lambertini got two saves for us... Mike especially came through in game seven.

During the playoffs South Fork batted .269 with 32 doubles, 5 triples and 15 homers... they outscored the opposition 85 to 64 in 18 games with a 12-6 record... The team ERA was 3.40... the bullpen ERA was a sparkling 1.16 with six saves... defensively the Stallions played great as they surrendered only four unearned runs.

Colfax manager Ilya Szabo congratulated Terranova and his Stallions, "South Fork really put a whupping on us... congrats to them... they really outhit us, outpitched us, outplayed us defensively and probably outmanaged us... the decisive sweep says it all."
