TOP TWIRLERS NAMED IN IPA
The IPA named Scotty Price of Sligo and Jay Murphy of South Fork the top twirlers for the 2042 season. Price was picked as the best pitcher in the Ruthlandian Union and received this year's Golden Arm Award, while the Tycobbian Union gave its Golden Arm trophy to Murphy. Both recipients are first-time winners.
Ruthlandian Union Golden Arm:
1. Scotty Price (Sligo): (21-13/2.07)
Price paced the RU with a terrific 2.07 ERA and led the Rovers to a fourth-place finish this year in the RU West... in his seven-year career Price has posted a 106-67 mark with a standout 2.48 ERA... Price, age 31, was a reliever for his first three seasons and has 59 saves.
2. Jeremy Kirk (St. John): (21-14/2.59)
Kirk was one of the prime reasons the Crusaders won the pennant in the RU South... in his 11 years in the IPA Kirk is 196-134 with a fine 3.04 ERA... Kirk has won 20 games five times in his career... he is 29 years old.
3. Hot Dog Huxtable (LaGrange): (24-10/2.79)
the 27-year-old lefty chalked up 20 victories for the first time in his career and helped the Sports back into contention again... they were seventh in 2041 and leaped up to second this year... Huxtable tied for the Ruthlandian league lead with Sam Nathan of the Claxton Diamonds with 24 wins... they fourth overall in the IPA... Billy Hoover was first with a 26-11 mark for the Southport Sun Sox in the Tycobbian Union.
Tycobbian Union Golden Arm:
1. Jay Murphy (South Fork): (25-7/1.90)
Murphy was tied for second place, along with Jayson Hallstrom of Summerland for the most wins in the IPA... only Southport's Billy Hoover with 26 had more wins... South Fork won the TU East this season... Murphy easily led the IPA with a fabulous 1.90 ERA... this was the second straight season he won 20 games... lifetime the 27-year-old Murphy is 80-46 with an impressive 2.96 ERA in his five years in the league... he was a mediocre reliever in his first two seasons and notched 23 saves with a 16-22 mark..
2. Jayson Hallstrom (Summerland): (25-9/2.05)
Hallstrom was a very close second to Murphy in the voting... he tied him for second place in victories and placed second in ERA... the Sunsets wound up fourth in the TU South standings.
3. Billy Hoover (Southport): (26-11/2.16)
Coming in a very close third in the Golden Arm balloting Hoover was the IPA leader in wins with 26 and fourth in ERA with an exceptional 2.16... the Sun Sox had the most victoies in the IPA with 100 and won the TU South Division crown.
