2043 IPA Pro Cup Final Series - Game One
VIPERS WIN 9TH STRAIGHT, STUN HAWKS 8-2 IN OPENER
In the opening game of the 2043 Pro Cup Series at the Hawk's Nest in North Hills, visiting Valmara stunned the favored Hawks 8-2 for their ninth straight victory in the playoffs this year... this snapped North Hills' eight-game winning streak in the postseason... for the first time in IPA history two teams came into the Finals unbeaten... the Vipers dominated the game with 14 hits and strong pitching by southpaw Teddy Twardzik, who went the distance for his fifth successive win in the playoffs.
Valmara broke open a close game with eight runs in the middle three frames, led by CF Don Ritchie (.375), 1B Cain Greene (.361) and C Antonio Dominguez (.294) with two RBIs each... everyone in the Viper line-up chalked up at least one hit... Twardzik (5-0/2.66) stopped the hard-hitting Hawks on five hits, fanned three and walked no one... in a terrible outing David Micheal (3-1/2.63) took his first loss in the postseason as he was slapped around for 12 hits and eight runs in just five innings.
