For what has to be the longest delay in a long time in between baseball card updates, I will soon return to creating baseball cards with many of the great images posted here in the last month and a half in the coming weeks.
I took some time out to move in another direction, creating basketball cards. Sadly, unlike this great community website, there just isnt anything close available for other sports. Still, with the help of Lebby & FrostyMalt, I have put together 10 seasons spanning the late 60s and early 70s using the 1971 Topps template. Certainly not the most attractive template, 1971-72 was a year that I recall fondly which had me using those cards for my various boardgames. Every player from all of the 10 seasons is represented in the sets. Unlike my baseball cards which only include images for the specific team, basketball images are not so plenty full and as a result, cards were created using whatever image was available when the team specific image was not. Both NBA and ABA is represented.
As satisfied as I have been with this 3600 card set, I am about to begin a new project which will have me reproducing these 10 sets with a new card template designed by FrostyMalt. Taking the 1968 Topps Football design, the template has been converted for basketball minus the logos. Each team for each season will have a template that is color coordinated. Lebby found a great background photo of a basketball court which really makes the cards look great.
I apologize for taking up space on a baseball forum, I wanted to be able to reach out to the folks here in case they might also enjoy basketball. Please, if any of you know of a similar type forum for basketball images, please let me know. Or if you are collecting images from the following era, please let me know as well.
