First of all, I think developers were forced to release game on September, 4. I think they would like to spend more time polishing FHM but management can be tricky (once again, it's my thoughts).
Second: you hadn't been able to simulate till season 2 because of crashes. We understand you and feel sorry for you. But if you have read posts, many people were able to simulate many more seasons than just one. Check, for example, dynasty reports. It can be problem with your comp, so please stop complainig about season 2 crashes. It's not the universal problem.
Third: imagine that I give you OOTP engine and ask you to customize it for soccer (just an example). Does it looks so easy? Rules are different, there are ties, there are many leagues and each one has its own rules. You have to do historical seasons (but in OOTP there is Lahman database; in case of soccer and hockey...). Besides, at the same time you have to program iOOTP (because iPhone customers will hate you if you don't). Easy? Then imagine that you're pressed for time, dmytron and ellcar are pressing you to release next important patch as quickier as you can. What's next? Nervous breakdown.
