Denton City had home-run power (182 HRs-8th) and better-than-average pitching (3.73 ERA-15th) this year... the Redbirds were fourth in the standings last year with an 80-74 mark (5 GB)... this season they rose up to second place with an 83-71 record (7 GB)... on 9 occasions the Redbirds have made the postseason... the most recent was in 2040... Denton City has yet to capture a Pro Cup in its history... twice the Redbirds were finalists, 2005 and 2008... a second-half flop cost them the pennant this year.

Superstar 1B Wayman Stetson had another monster year... he led the IPA with 56 homers, was sixth with 204 hits, was seventh in RBIs with 128, seventh with a .323 BA and ninth in runs with 112... other run producers were SS Sammy Thornton (.313/13/65/109) and RF Sadaharu Uchiyama (.267/14/64/83)... Harry Elliott (22-11/3.69) led the staff in wins... 39-year-old Francisco Salcido (16-16/2.91) is still a very effective starter though he was injured in September and will be four months in recovery... in his 17 seasons Salcido is 247-190 with a respectable 3.40 ERA... James Webb (16-16/3/54) was also a reliable starter.
