Perhaps you need to provide more detail or perhaps I am just missing something obvious, but from what you wrote I don't see where you have a specific need for a Spritze db. It sounds like you need both fictional players and actual major-leaguers, which you can get without using a Spritze db. If, however, you want to also be able to use a bunch of Negro-leaguers, Japanese pros, career minor-leaguers, and others, then a Spritze db is the way to go.
