It depends largely, in my opinion, on how badly you need the prospects. International amateurs tend to flame out, even more than draft picks do, and you can easily see your $3 million+ go up in smoke. However, sometimes, they're absolutely mind-boggling.
If you don't think you'll need free agents, it's not a bad investment, and it's only a one year payment, which is also nice.
