I don't have any testing to back it up, and I haven't played any leagues in that era, but it always seems like bringing up guys who have a lot more room to develop their 'avoid K's' too early results in a stunted development. My theory is the decrease in moral from striking out more often than they should is the cause.
Even if that is nonsense ... unless you expect calling him up now will be the move that bumps you to a championship year, see if you can let him simmer for at least part of the upcoming season. Having a low discipline is not something you typically want in a guy you want for his contact hitting.
