Yeah, not sure I would call that a bug so much as a storyline that's not been thought through for every possibility. These were news items for a US league, and each of these players spent at least part of 1 season in that league. Turns out, though, that these three were all foreign born and played most of their careers in foreign leagues.
And to be fair, you don't have to be born in the US to run for Congress at all. But it does seem funny to have your campaign headquarters in a foreign city...
