Jack Gleason is hitless in 10 at-bats this year for the Cardinals, but the 28 year old third baseman reached on an error in the tenth inning and came home to score the winning run on a passed ball to preserve the Cardinals' undefeated season with a 7-6 ten inning win over the Cardinals. The Cardinals now have a 4 game lead over the Seahawks in the NBC West. Jack Manning added a three run single for the Cardinals, with Scott Young picking up his 6th win of the year.

The Bills dropped their second straight game as they lost to the Jaguars 4-1 this week, and have gone from undefeated to tied for first place as the Patriots improved to 6-2 with a 10-2 win over the Dolphins to move them into a first place tie in the ABC East with the Bills.

The Saints kept pace with the Panthers in the NBC South as both teams won this week. The Panthers beat the Eagles 9-4 while the Saints defeated the Bucs 7-2. Ed Kennedy and Mike Mansell each drove in 2 runs for the Saints, with Aaron Jackson improving to 5-1 on the season.

Sam Johnson of the Lions added another Player of the Week Award with a 10 inning victory over the Giants. Johnson allowed 4 runs, but just 1 of those runs was earned while striking out 2 and walking 1. The Lions improved to 7-1 on the season with the 5-4 win over the Giants.

Dave Cartwright won the Player of the Week in the American Baseball Conference after his 5 hitter against the Bills.

The trade deadline is just one day away, and we've already seen a flurry of activity. 26 year old second baseman Jimmy Knowles was sent by the Titans to the Seahawks in exchange for 40 year old Milt Foss and minor league starting pitcher Jimmy McGloin. Knowles is hitting .417 this season with 2 RBI. Foss is now pitching in relief, but has a 93-79 record for his career with a 3.14 ERA and is 2 wins behind Dan Anderson for most career wins.

Another veteran pitcher, George Zettlein, was involved in a trade, going to Arizona along with minor league starting pitcher Tom Sullivan in exchange for 35 year old left fielder Christian Wadell.

The 49'ers have sent 35 year old second baseman Nick Pierce to the Vikings in exchange for 28 year old right fielder Matthew Taylor and 22 year old starting pitcher Mike Stark. The Bengals shipped off 26 year old left fielder Bill Phillips (.313 AVG, 1 RBI, 7 R) to the Patriots in exchange for 26 year old left fielder Ernie Burch (2-3, 3 RBI).

The Vikings also acquired 27 year old right fielder Rusty Messer in exchange for 40 year old reliever Vince Whiteside.
