2046 IPA PRO CUP FINAL SERIES - Game 3

HELLCATS NIP VIPERS 5-4 IN 11 INNINGS
Visiting Hartsdale took an early 4-2 lead after six frames, Valmara came back and tied it at 4-4 in the eighth and then the Hellcats won 5-4 in the 11th... Benjy Tate (.143) got new life when outfielder Jacek Prusak (.259) dropped his lazy flyball... Darrell Nesbitt singled him to second and a fielder's choice put runners on the corners... then Greg Melton's base hit scored Tate with the go-ahead run... the victory put Hartsdale in front in the Pro Cup Finals two games to one in the best-of-seven series.

David Payne (1-0/6.00) registered the win with two scoreless frames in the 10th and the 11th... Payne was pitcher perfect when he retired all six batters he faced... Perry Givens started for the Hellcats and allowed four runs on nine hits in seven and two-thirds innings... Givens (0-1/3.26) faded in the latter innings, but did fan six batters, while walking only one... reliever Paul Holloway (1-1/1.00) suffered the loss though he permitted just one unearned run in his four innings... Harold Hutson, the Valmara starter, did a credible job giving up four runs on eight hits in seven innings... Hutson walked four and struck out nine.

Offensively the Hellcats were paced by LF Marv Shaw (.262) with a two-run double... SS Robinson Alomar (.344) collected two hits, one of them his sixth roundtripper of the posteseason... Alomar tops the squad with 19 RBIs in the playoffs... 3B Greg Melton (.344) and CF Darrell Nesbitt (.276) also added two hits apiece for Hartsdale. Viper starter Harold Hutson had two hits, one of them a home run... SS Antos Dacko (.214) chipped in with 2 for 5 and two RBIs.
