Greetings,
It was more of a labor than any other update I have done; not sure what that means but I guess I am burning out with my card creating. Taking on Baseball, Basketball and Hockey along with a few Football cards has really made this latest update for baseball a chore.
There are 614 new player cards. There are also 4 new manager cards. 6 new ballparks. A note about this update: In all other updates that I have ever done, I have included the new card as well as any other cards that had file name changes to accommodate the new card. That means that the updates usually included about 40% old cards in addition to the new ones. This update and any that come in the future will only include new cards. If you do not download all new season folders, you will need to be careful when pasting the new cards into your existing folders. That will not be the case unless the new card became my default card for that season.
I also found out that I could edit the team abbreviation for Replay Baseball so with that said, I have modified the Team abbreviation for 11 teams over the 18 years. They are as follows:
1957 Giants was NY1; now is NYN
1957 Senators was WSH; now is WAS
1960 Senators was WSH; now is WAS
1961 Senators was WSH; now is WAS
1964 Cardinals was SLN; now is STL
1965 Cardinals was SLN; now is STL
1966 Cardinals was SLN; now is STL
1967 Cardinals was SLN; now is STL
1969 Cardinals was SLN; now is STL
1971 Cardinals was SLN; now is STL
1972 Cardinals was SLN; now is STL
This means that all teams now have the same abbreviations for all seasons. If you are not going to download new season folders, you can replace the cards in your folders by simply go to that folder, do CTL F; search for NY1; WSH and SLN for each of the seasons listed and then delete them. You can also start from your main folder and go to advanced settings to check subfolders and do them all at the same time for each abbreviation. Again, if you are going to replace your folders with my new ones, you won’t have to do this.
The update therefore includes a folder with all 11 teams listed above with the new team abbreviations which will be used going forward.
If you have Replay Baseball, you simply go to options, edit and change the abbreviation. If you have APC, you select the team roster, go to photos, click First_Last and then change suffix to _NYN etc and click default player names. Sorry for the inconvenience. I still hope that one day Replay Baseball will be able to edit player first names so each player will have the same name across all seasons; right now that is not possible so I have to go with the name that Replay baseball uses. EX: Charlie Lau is used for some seasons; Charley Lau for others.
Thanks to Guy for all the great images he named and then sent from Topps Vault; Mark S also provided two fantastic colorizations; be sure to check out Bob Veale and Pedro Gonzalez. Also thanks to Guy, several errors with previous updates were corrected; both in terms of edits for names that I spelled wrong as well as discovering some images that were not of the player the card was created for.
I will be uploading all seasons fully updated later tonight; the stand alone update is uploaded and available now.
