Don't worry about it, the financial stuff can be very tricky. Also, it's important to note that the computer will factor future contract dollars and estimated arbitration amounts into stuff like this, so sometimes the owner will refuse to let you sign a player because it would be fine for this year, but it would put you way over budget for next year.
