BP'S BUISSON RU ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
The IPA had a pretty decent crop of newcomers this season. The Ruthlandian Union Rookie of the Year Award went to Belle Plaine's fine young 22-year-old outfielder Lenny Buisson, who edged out two hurlers for the honor. Mickey Walsh of Sligo and Casimiro Ramires finished second and third in the best rookie poll.
Buisson played in 102 games for the fifth-place Musketeers and showed off some great muscle power. He hit .316 for average with 30 home runs, 84 RBIs and scored 77 runs... he also stole 16 bases and played well defensively.
Walsh had a standout freshman season with an 18-15 record for the sixth-place Sligo Rovers. The 20-year-old right-hander posted a fine 2.54 ERA with 215 Ks in 294 innings. Walsh made 35 starts and completed 23 of them.
Ramires made 32 starts for the Volusia Vigilantes, winding up with a 14-10 mark and a solid 3.11 ERA. The 25-year-old righty helped the V's finish second in the Ruthlandian West. Ramires struck out 179 batters in his 243 innings.
