Bando Leads Oakland to Seventh Win

Oakland gets his fourth win in a row as Sal Bando (.344, 4 HR, 13 RBI) hits his second two-run home run in the top of the 10th inning to lead the A's to a 6-4 win over Boston. Bando has five runs batted in on the day and Gene Tenace (.286, 5 RBI) has four hits, scores twice and drives in a run in the victory. Fred Lynn (.333, 2 HR, 6 RBI) hits a solo home run as part of a 4-for-4 performance and Jim Rice (.323, 2 HR, 6 RBI) adds a two-run blast for the Red Sox.

Otto Velez (his 2nd) as California gets by the Yankees, 3-1.

Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins
Dan Ford (.200, 1 HR, 8 RBI) breaks open a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the 12th inning with a walkoff, three-run home run off of Tigers reliever
Ray Bare (0-1, 13.50 ERA) to lift Minnesota to a 3-1 victory.

Baltimore Orioles at Chicago White Sox
The White Sox avoid a three-game sweep as
Bucky Dent (.292, 3 RBI) delivers a two-out, RBI single off of
Ken Holtzman (0-1, 9.00 ERA) in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Chicago a 7-6 win over the Orioles.
Ralph Garr (.375, 1 HR, 6 RBI) scores three runs - including the game winner - and comes within a single from hitting for the cycle, hitting a triple in the fourth inning, a three-run home run in the fifth and a double in the 12th.
Lamar Johnson (.394, 6 RBI) and
Pat Kelly (.176) also have three hit days as the White Sox out hit Baltimore, 16-8.
