1985 - No-Hitter
05/29/1985 - Stieb in Command, No-Hits Blue Jays
Excitement reigned at the ballyard today as Chicago hurler Dave Stieb tossed a baseball rarity -- a no-hitter. After defeating the Toronto Blue Jays at Comiskey Park 3-0 he was swamped by reporters in the clubhouse for postgame comments. "I'm just glad to be here. I want to help the club any way I can. Today I just went right at the Toronto as hard as I could, as long as I could." Stieb chalked up 3 strikeouts and allowed 3 walks in his superb performance. The Toronto manager had his own analysis of the ballgame: "I don't think we could have hit him with a howitzer today." So far this year Stieb has a 3-3 record with a 2.86 ERA.
