2049 IPA DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES: Game 3

ROOSTERS RALLY TO WIN GAME 3
After dropping both games at home in the Ruthlandian Division Championship Series, Middlefield needed a win on the road in Sugar Valley in the worst way and got it, but they had to rally from a 3-0 deficit... the Roosters came away with a 4-3 decision and chopped the Rattlers' lead to two games to one... winning pitcher James Long (1-0) endured 12 hits, but was tough with men on base... he went the distance and allowed only one earned run... Middlefield knotted the score with a three-run fifth on a solo homer by rookie Timothy Hayworth and a two-run smash by rookie Johnny Wyatt, then wrapped up the game in the ninth... with one out and the bases full, Russell Martin lined out to right field and scored Hayworth from third with the winning run.... reliever Domenico Renterias (0-1) replaced starter Joe Snow in the ninth and was the loser on an unearned run... Snow went eight innings and allowed three runs on 11 hits.
Both clubs racked up 12 hits each, however Middlefield left a dozen runners on base and Sugar Valley stranded 10... RF Timothy Hayworth (.286) topped the Roosters with three hits, scored twice and scored once...while LF Russell Martin (.231) and 2B Ike Gary (.267) notched two hits apiece... CF Johnny Wyatt (.214) got his second homer in the series... leading the Rattlers at the plate were 2B Richie Fry (.294) with three hits... four others had two hits each: SS Pete McCormick (.286), LF Carl Ramsey (.357), CF Roger Hobbs (.417) and 3B Kent Rasmus (.231)... rookie RF Duncan McEllicott (.154) and Hobbs both drove in runs for Sugar Valley.
VALMARA CRUSHES CLAXTON 10-1, NEARS SWEEP
The bats were booming at Avalon Stadium, but not for the hometown Claxton Diamonds... Valmara crushed them 10-1 to take a huge 3-0 lead in the Ruthlandian DCS... Claxton was a Pro Cup finalist last year... the Vipers pounded out 16 hits with Justin Roscoe going deep twice and Tomek Abramczyk once in the rout... veteran Teddy Twardzik (1-0) hurled a five-hitter for the win... at 37 Twardzik is a postseason workhorse with an 11-4 mark in 17 starts and a great 2.30 ERA.
The Vipers started off with a bang by scoring six runs in the opening inning off loser Steve Ellison (0-1), who was battered for eight runs in just two and two-thirds innings... RF Boyd Holmes (.500) rapped four hits for Valmara and scored four times... 3B Justin Roscoe (.400) hit a pair of homers, giving him four so far in just three games... Roscoe had 5 RBIs and scored three runs... and 2B Jorge Aparicio (.417) was 2-5 with two runs batted in.

RASCALS WIN THIRD IN A ROW
At the Casa de Beisbol in San Alejo, Ryan Byrd's three-run blast put White River in front 6-3 in the top of the fifth frame and the Rascals held off a closing charge by Montaneros to capture their third successive victory in the Tycobbian DCS by the score of 6-5... one more win for the Rascals and it's on to the Tycobbian title series... White River was the number one pick to win the Pro Cup this season and they are really playing like champions... San Alejo was the fifth choice in The Islandian Times Pro Cup poll.
Clem Warren (1-0) notched the win for the Rascals... he permitted three runs on eight hits in seven innings... Todd Cole got his second save in the series, but was roughed up for two runs in the eighth... three pitchers worked for the Monties with the defeat going to starter Wilfredo Bonilla (0-1)... he was rocked for six runs and 10 hits in his seven plus frames.
White River had the edge at the plate with 11 hits to San Alejo's 10... 2B Ryan Byrd (.455) went 3-4 and batted in three runs... LF Billy Joe Hickman (.200) added two hits and drove in a pair of runs... 1B Ruben Reaves (.333) and 3B Kenny Yarbrough (.231) also collected two hits apiece for the winners... San Alejo's 1B Sal McAlister (.545) socked three hits and batted in a pair of runs... SS Benito Clemente (.231) was 2-5 and scored a run... LF Royce Grantham (.182), the IPA RBI leader this year, and C Ted Thunder (.300) each drove in a run for the Monties.
BUCS BEAT BLUE JAYS WITH 6-RUN 9TH
Playing in the friendly confines of Central Park Stadium for the first time in this postseason, Tuckanarra enjoyed an 8-3 lead going into the top of the ninth in the Tycobbian Division Championship Series, but the Blue Jays collapsed and lost 9-8 to the Bay St. Clair Buccaneers... the Bucs combined 14 hits and super relief to snatch their second victory in three games... Reece Somerset (.417) and Ike Ritter (.111) led the comeback with three RBIs apiece and Stan Terry (.375) pitched in with a pair of RBIs... two rookies in the bullpen Ian Abercrombie and Cadillac Bogart stopped the Tucks cold for the last three and one-third innings... Abercrombie (2-0/0.00) got his second win in the series and Bogart got his first save... reliever Cameron Brothers (0-1) was shelled for four runs in the ninth and took the loss.
Bay St. Clair's top guns were rookie RF Stan Kovalenko (.500), Terry and rookie 3B Trace Burney (.214), all with three hits... Tuckanarra's 13-hit attack was led by RF Frank Mason (.308) with three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored... 3B Harv Bannerman (.286) had three hits, two of them doubles, two RBIs and two runs... 2B Ricky Vincent (.167) with a pair of hits, two RBIs and a run scored... and 1B Rodger Parsons (.364) with two doubles and two runs.
