I'm a Blue Jay fan with a brain and it appears that a large proportion of Jays fans posting online can't grasp the fact that if this trade had not been offered the Jays would have declined Lind's option paid him $1M and made him a free agent.
Getting something, anything, instead of nothing for a player you were willing to pay $1M to go away is good. This was not a trade of players so it can't be evaluated that way. It was a trade of financial obligations to free up money and Milwaukee helped out because they have some payroll flexibility and the risk/reward may favor them.
There was zero chance that any deal for Lind would return any value due to his limitations and wonky back. If he plays 100 games next year I'll be shocked.
