Liberty Division

Washington Capitals
The Capitals had the best month in the Liberty Division with a 16-5 record. This included a 12 game winning run in the middle of the month. They did this on the back of some very solid hitting. Right Fielder Bobby Bradshaw hit .350 and Short Stop Bill Wright hit .341 on the month. They also scored 29 home runs during the month and 108 runs in total. Pitching was tougher for the Capitals as they seemed to let a few runs go as only 1 starting pitcher made an ERA lower than 2.7. That was Alvin Pollock who had an ERA of .99 in 4 game starts for 2 wins a 0 loses. They pitching gave up 61 runs in total and the starters had a combined ERA of 2.97

Pittsburgh Steel
The Steel had a good month in April going 12-9. There best run during this was a 5 game win run. The hitting was solid if a little frugal on the runs for the record. The best of the hitting was Gary Hatfield who hit .364 for the month of April. They managed to score 95 runs in the month which included 27 home runs. The pitching was a bit up and down. Nacho Delgado and Brian Parker produced what was needed with ERA's of 1.93 and 2.20 respectively. The issue came from the rest of the rotation including the fact that they couldn't find a settled fifth starter. This led to an overall ERA for the starters of 4.14. The Steel lost Left Fielder Larry Norwood for 3 weeks at the end of the month with a fractured foot.

Tampa Hurricanes
The Hurricanes struggled slightly during the month as they posted a record of 10-12 in April. The hitting kept up good production with 97 runs scored including 33 home runs. The best hitter was Right Fielder Eugene Parker who hit .310 for the month. The pitching struggled to stem the tide of runs against them as they let 96 runs go in the 22 games. The starting rotation was missing the injured Paul Arnold as the best was Bob Blake with an ERA of 3.96 and record of 2 wins and 1 loss. The rotation posted a combined ERA of 4.22. They lost Left Fielder Bob Gallegos early in the month with a 6 week injury.

Chicago Whitecaps
The Whitecaps had a poor month in April as they posted a 8-13 record. The hitting wasn't the best during the month as they scored only 91 runs including 31 home runs. The best starting hitter was Tommy Weeks who hit .299 and managed double figures in home runs at 10 to lead the conference. In the pitching departments there was very little to please the Whitecaps fans. The only bright spot was Bob McDonald with an ERA of 2.97 on 5 starts with a 2-2 record. All the other starters had ERA's above 3.90 to give the team an overall ERA in the rotation of 5.34. The pitching unit gave up 104 runs in total. There were no injuries of note to report.

Cincinnati Royals
The Royals have struggled to find any form during April with a record of 7-14. The hitting has struggled to find the runs during the month as they posted only 84 runs including 22 home runs. The best of the hitting was Centre Fielder Ed Morton who posted a .322 hit ting average in April. The pitching is where the Royals found their issues during the month as none of the starting rotation produced much of a performance. The best by a mile was Jesse Noland with an ERA of 2.97 and a 3-2 record on 5 starts. The rest all had ERA's above 4.75. The total runs given up was 112 and the starting rotation ended with an ERA of 5.51. Second Baseman Guy Santos was lost on the opening day for 6 weeks which may have affected the hitting slightly.

Boston Colonials
The Colonials had the worst record in the eastern Conference Liberty Divison during April with a record of 7-15. They managed 96 runs from the hitting unit which was pretty good especially as it included 23 home runs. The best of this good hitting was Left Fielder Ross Adams who hit .337 in April. The pitching is where the games were lost as they allowed 122 runs against them and saw a collective ERA of 5.71 from the starters. The best Starter was Michael Williams who had an ERA of 3.72 but a poor record of 1-4. They lost Logan Bridges for 3 weeks late in the month.

Justice Division

Detroit Motors
The Motors had an excellent start to the season as they went 17-5 during April to lead the Justice Division. They did this with excellent performances on both the hitting and the pitching units. The hitting unit while not posting high hitting averages managed to score the most runs in the month at 114 including 31 home runs. The best of the hitting was First baseman Larry Dorsey who hit .338 in April. The pitching was superb as they allowed only 61 runs in the 22 games on the month. The ERA of the starting rotation was 2.93 with the best being Pedro Martinez who posted and ERA of 2.19 with a 3-0 record. There were no major injuries of note during the month.

Atlanta Heat
The Heat had a good start to the season with an April record of 12-9. The hitting side of the team managed a good return of 100 runs including 28 home runs. The outstanding hitter on the month is shared between 2 players as both Centre Fielder Jose Calderon and First Baseman Dave Rhodes managed to hit .313 on the month. On the pitching side the team was not so good as the team lost a few games by big scores leading to 112 runs against them. The starters posted an ERA of 3.71 with the best being Ricky Orchard with an ERA of 2.57. The heat currently have not notable injuries.

Miami Gators
The Gators had an fairly good start to the season with a 12-10 record for April. The team produced a fairly good performance with the bat getting 94 runs including 30 home runs. The issue was that they couldn't find a starting hitter that could go above .300 as they relied on the bench players to add to the fire power. The best of the starters was Centre Fielder Philip White who hit .296 in April. The Pitching had to make up for this lack of hitting by keeping the runs against down to 94 runs. This though still led to a starting rotation ERA of 4.67 for the month. The best of the pitching was Eddie Fletcher who had an ERA of 2.48 and a record of 4-1. There are no major injury worries for the team but Catcher Tom Best has missed 3 weeks of the start of the season.

Philadelphia Blues
The Blues have managed a slightly above average record for April as they went 12-10 on the month. This was achieved mainly due to the effectiveness of their pitching which has let only 89 runs go past them. They did this with a starting rotation of 3.47. The best ERA was posted by Julio Rivera with 2.83 for the month of April. He managed a record of 3-1. The hitting wasn't quite as good as the pitching as they struggled to find the runs and only managed 92 in April which included only 19 home runs. The hitting averages were good but they just couldn't string the hits together to get the runs. The best of the hitting came from Cristobal Gaona who hit .337 for April. There were no injury concerns.

Indianapolis Wings
The Wings struggled for the start of the season with a record of 9-13 in April. The hitting on the team was not as strong as it could be as they managed only 83 runs during the month. The hitting averages also reflected the struggles they had as only Right Fielder Ben Walter hitting above .300 on the month with an average of .326. The pitching tried its hardest to make up for the hitting sides troubles by allowing only 89 runs and the starting rotation posting a good 3.80 ERA but couldn't quite do it. The best of the pitching is Brad Weber who had an ERA of 2.73 but only managed a record of 1-1 from 4 starts. The hitting wasn't helped with the loss of star First Baseman Cecil Chambers to injury early in the month. He will be out 4 months.

New York Patriots
The Patriots did not start the season that their fans would have liked as they had a record of 7-14 in April. The hitting definitely is the weak link in the month as they scored a conference low 76 runs including 24 home runs. The players themselves did not get good averages as the best was Left Fielder Cody Brandon who hit .294 on the month. The pitching tried its best to get the team out of trouble by letting only 90 runs go and having the starting rotation have an ERA of 3.68. The best was Jorge Diaz who had an ERA of 2.81 but only managed 1 win in the month. The team was not helped by the loss of both Starting Pitcher Jon Phillips for 4 months early on in April and Centre Fielder Lonnie Reed for 3 weeks late in April.

Liberty Division

San Jose Hackers
The Hackers managed to post the best record in the Western Conference of 16-5 to lead the Liberty Division after April. They did this on the back of some very tight pitching. The pitching gave up only 70 runs in the month and the Starters posted an ERA of 3.44. The best of them was Gordon Morgan who posted an ERA 2.70 and a record of 3-1. The hitting also excelled as they scored 112 runs including 30 home runs. The best of them was Catcher Dave Gunter who posted a .338 average on the month. The Hackers have no major injury worries.

Los Angeles Angels
The Angels had an average month in April as they posted a record of 11-10. The strong part of the team is the pitching as they managed to keep the runs down to 80 against them. The starting rotation also posted a good ERA of 3.41 on the month. The best of them was Quinn Tollison who managed 3 wins for an ERA of 2.73 on the month. The hitting didn't help this good pitching as they managed to score only 81 runs in the month including 23 home runs. The averages were poor from the starters apart from Left Fielder Kade Lutz who posted a .373 average. They lost Middle Releiver Donald Franco towards the end of the month to injury for 8 weeks.

Dallas Cowboys
While the Cowboys had an average month according to the win record of 11-11 in April, the hitting and pitching stats show that this could be a false record and more could be expected from them. The hitting posted 101 runs on the month including a low 16 home runs. The best of the hitting was Second Baseman Daryl Lane who hit .333 on the month. The pitching tried it hardest to get the wins as they kept the run count down to 80 runs and the starting rotation had an ERA of 3.69. They were led by Ted Cooke with an ERA in April of 2.35. There were no new injury worries for the Cowboys.

Denver Mustangs
The Mustangs fell just below .500 on the month with a record of 10-11 in April. This was down to a failure in the pitching department as they let a league high of 139 runs go against them. The starting rotation also had a league high of 7.00. The best of what is a bad bunch was Setia Pakpahan who had an ERA of 4.63 and a record of 2-1. The hitting tried hard to counter the pitching's woes but with 108 runs scored including 21 home runs. It wasn't enough though. The best of the hitting was First Baseman Michael Jackson who hit .434 on the month. There were no new injury worries.

St. Louis Comets
The Comets have started the new season in poor form with a 9-12 record on the month of April. They had a bad month with the bat as they scored only 75 runs in the month which included only 15 home runs. The best of the averages was First Baseman Stanley Aguilar with an average of .329. He was the only one above .300 though. The pitching tried its best to help the hitting out by only letting 85 runs go past them and posting a starting rotation ERA of 3.76. This wasn't enough though. The best of the pitching was Marcos Melendez who posted an ERA of 2.92 but also had a poor record of 0-3. Second Baseman Alan Tucker was lost for 4 weeks early in the month which didn't help the hitting.

Seattle Eagles
The Eagles posted a poor record for the month of April with a record of 9-13. This was down to a poor pitching performance as they let 110 runs go past them and posted a starting rotation ERA of 5.43. The best of the poor pitching was Carl Silva who posted an ERA of 3.64 and a record of 1-1 on the month. The hitting tried its best to counter this as they scored 116 runs including 30 home runs but it was not enough. The best of the hitting was Right Fielder Tom Jones who hit .333 on the month. There were no new injury worries for the Eagles during the month.

Justice Division

Phoenix Flames
The Flames roared to the top of the Justice League at the start of the season with an April record of 14-8. They did this on the back of good all round play. The hitting did enough to help the Flames win more than they lost as they scored 103 runs including 16 home runs. The best of them was Third Baseman Gustavo Paz who celebrated his new contract with a .357 average. The pitching also did O.K. during the month as they allowed 108 runs past them and the starting rotation posted an ERA of 5.33. This though didnt give the full story as their was a star in John Walker who posted an ERA of 1.67 with a 3-0 record on the month. This meant that the rest of the rotation was not as good on the month. There were no new major injury worries in the month.

Kansas City Jazz
The Jazz posted the second best record in the Justice Division during April with 13 wins and 9 losses. They did this on a solid hitting performance that produced 109 runs including 30 home runs. The best hitting average on the month was posted by Superstar Left Fielder Ron Phelps who hit .373 in the month of April. The pitching let the hitting down a little as they let 101 runs go past them with a starting rotation ERA of 4.00. This ERA though was hit by 1 or 2 of the pitchers not hitting top form straight away. The best of them was youngester Bill Mathis who showed his potential with an ERA of 2.61 on route to a record of 4-0 for the month. The Jazz picked up no new injury worries.

San Diego Bandits
The Bandits manfully struggled to an 11-10 record in April to overcome their mounting injury worries. The pitching led the way as they allowed only 89 runs go past them and posted a starting rotation ERA of 4.02. 2 of the starters posted excellent ERA's Floyd White managed 1.93 and Jake O'Dell posted an ERA of 2.93. They also picked up 7 wins between them. The hitting is where the issues lay as they only scored 96 runs in the month including 17 home runs. Only Right Fielder Mark Coleman posted a good hitting average at .325 in the month. The injury woes of the Bandits increased as they lost Second Baseman Joe Banks for 3 weeks during the month. This was offset by the return of starting Second Baseman/Third Baseman Leopold Garcia on the same day.

Portland Orcas
The Orcas posted an average record of 11-11 for the month of April. This record could be better if the pitching were performing better. The pitching allowed 127 runs past them and the starting rotation posted an ERA of 5.51. The only highlight from the pitching came in the form of Clancy Cotter as he posted an ERA of 0.94 and a record of 3-1. The rest of the pitching was woeful. The pitching will not be helped going forward as Cotter was injured in his last game of the month and will be missing for 3 months. The hitting tried manfully to rectify the pitching troubles as they scored a league high 132 runs with 29 home runs included. The best of them was Left Fielder Clint Tipton who hit a marvellous average of .464 on the month. Dave Robinson heads the home run chase with 9.

Houston Oilers
The Oilers were in poor form at the start of the season as they posted a 8-13 record in April. This was down to the fact that the hitting struggled as they scored only 84 runs including a league low 13 home runs. The best of the poor hitting was Left Fielder Ryan Fisher who posted an average of .303 for the month. The pitching tried its best to counter the poor form of the hitting as they allowed only 91 runs go past them and posted an ERA of 4.22 from the starting rotation. This was led by an excellent Aaron Church who posted an ERA of 1.10 for the month but only a record of 2-2. There were no new injury worries for the Oilers in April

San Francisco Quakes
The fans of the Quakes are looking at what could be a long season as their team posted a league low 6-16 record in April. This was on the back of a woeful performance by the hitting department as they scored a league low 65 runs including 18 home runs. This poor performance meant that no hitters made .300 on the month. The best was Right Fielder George Fleming who posted an average of .286. The pitching was slightly better than the hitting but still didn't post the best figures on the month as they allowed 102 runs against them and posted a starting rotation ERA of 5.34. The best pitcher was Blair Mobley who posted an ERA of 2.86 but failed to win any of his starts due to the poor form of the hitters. The hitting wasn't helped by the loss of both Catcher Francis Fleming for 5 weeks and Centre Fielder Barney MacCartney for 3 weeks towards the end of the month.
