Seasoned by several years of army baseball, 30 year old Dave Robinson put together an solid offensive month for Portland and was crowned April's top batter in the Western Conference.
He batted .348 with 9 home runs, 32 RBI's and 18 runs scored.
Veteran of the Navy leagues John Walker put together quite a successful stretch in April for the Phoenix Flames, earning himself the Western Conference Pitcher of the Month award.
Walker racked up a 3-0 record in 5 starts, posting a 1.67 ERA over 37.2 innings and striking out 32.
Yes, Bill Mathis is just a rookie. But he is a special rookie.Today the 23 year old Kansas City starter was awarded the Western Conference Rookie of the Month trophy for his standout performance in April.
He dominated the rookie class, registering 4 wins and 0 losses in 4 starts with 18 strikeouts in 31 innings and a 2.61 ERA
Not bad for a first-year man.
