Chicago Whitecaps
The Whitecaps managed to move up to third in the Eastern Conference Liberty Division on the back of a 16-12 month. The improvement on April came in the form of a better pitching performance in May. The pitching in total only allowed 119 runs go past them and the starting rotation posted an improved ERA of 4.17 for the month. This improved performance was led by Willie O'Neal who started 6 games for a record of 4-1 with an ERA of 2.95. Cincinnati Royals
The Royals continued their poor play from the start of the season as they managed only 10-19 in May. The hitting continued to struggle as they scored only 99 runs including 29 home runs. Boston Colonials
The Colonials tried hard to get themselves off of the bottom of the table but are still there after a 10-19 month in May. The pitching continues to prove a problem for the team as they allowed another 166 runs in May. The starting rotation's ERA also left something to be desired as it drifted out to 6.04 in May. The best of the pitching in the month on record was Chet Green who had a 3-2 record in May but his ERA was poor at 5.93 while Bert Rucker had a better ERA at 4.34 but a worse record at 1-5. The hitting continued to try and bail the pitching out as they scored 116 runs including 26 home runs. The hitting was led by Left Fielder Ross Adams who hit .309 for the month. The injuries continued to leave Boston alone with the only roster move being the activation of Logan Bridges from the DL list.

Justice Division

Detroit Motors
The Motors had a good month in May as they posted a 16-12 record for the month. This meant that they continue to lead the title race in the Justice Division. This continued good form was down to the hitting that continued to produce during the month. They managed to score 141 runs in the month which included 40 home runs. Catcher Bob Cahill was the best hitter in the month from the starters as he posted a .323 average on the month. This earned him a 1 year contract extension. The pitching was slightly worse in the month but still did enough to keep the team at the top of the table. The pitching allowed 126runs past them in the month and the starting rotation gave an ERA of 4.47 on the month. The best of the pitching numbers were posted by Daniel Kennedy who had a 3-0 record and an ERA of 2.60. The team lost Reliever Jason Rice late in the month for a 4 month injury lay off.

Miami Gators
The Gators had a very good month in May as they gained an 18-11 record in the month. This helped to raise them to second position in the table. They did this with improvements in the pitching during May. They managed to keep the run let go past them down to 116 in the month and the starting rotation ERA improved for the month with a 4.41 mark for May. Philadelphia Blues
The Blues moved up to third in the table behind a 17-11 run in May. They did this behind some solid batting as they scored 129 runs including 21 home runs. The high points from the hitting were in the form of First Baseman Larry Stewart who hit .343 on the month. The pitching drifted slightly during May as the starting rotation ERA was poorer in the month at 4.20. The pitching unit also allowed 125 runs get past them. The best starting pitcher was Shawn Hoagland who recorded 3-2 and an ERA of 2.63. there was no injury news from the team during the month.

Atlanta Heat
The heat had a poor month in May to drop 2 places to fourth on a 12 and 16 month. The pitching suffered a drop back in form during the month as they allowed 123 runs go past them. The starting rotation's ERA also dropped down to 4.08 on the month. The bright point was Rex Schmitt who had a 4-1 record and 2.72 ERA for the month. The hitting continued with its current form as they hit 122 runs during the month with 37 of them being homers. The best of them was Centre Fielder Jose Calderon who hit .327 for the month. The heat suffered some injury worries at the end of the month as Starting Pitcher Nick Hoffman injured himself for 3-4 months, reserve catcher Art Shelton injured himself for 6 weeks and Third Baseman Buddy Perry injured himself for 4 weeks.

Indianapolis Wings
The Wings continued to struggle in the season as they posted an 11-18 record in May. This poor record is down to the struggles that the hitting unit is having as they only posted 87 runs in the month of May including 26 home runs. The best of a sorry bunch was Right Fielder Ben Walter who hit .333 on the month. The pitching also dropped a little in May as they allowed 116 runs past them and the starting rotation posted a 4.14 ERA. They also traded Pitts away which didn't help. Brad Weber was the best of the remaining starters who had a record of 2-1 and an ERA of 3.03. Second Baseman Burton Lee has shown that he may be injury prone as he was activated from the DL early in the month only to go back on it 2 days later with another 3-4 week injury. Ben walter was also put on DL at the end of the month after being injured for 1 week. The wings also fired their manager during the month.

New York Patriots

Liberty Division

San Jose Hackers
The Hackers continued their good early season form as they posted an 18-10 record in May. They did this on the continued good pitching performances from the team. They only allowed 93 runs go past them in the month to continue to lead the runs allowed totals. The starting rotation also became more frugal as the monthly ERA dropped to a great 3.02. The best of this strong line up was Brian Dye who picked up a 5-0 record and ERA of 2.32 on the month. Bob Stanley also had a strong ERA at 1.83 but lost more games. The hitting continued to play its part in the teams success by scoring 129 runs including a high 42 home runs. The best of the hitting came from Right Fielder Francisco Gamboa who hit .347 on the month. There were no injury changes in the month.

Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys had an excellent month in May going 19-10 to show that we were correct when we said they were better than April's record suggested. This allowed them to move up to second. The record was achieved behind some brilliant pitching during the month. The pitching unit gave up only 100 runs on the month and the starting rotation had a superb 2.98 ERA for the month. This was helped by the acquisition of Aaron Whitaker in a trade. The best of the pitching was Arturo Parra who had a record of 2-1 from 6 starts and an ERA of 1.69. The hitting continued its very solid start to the season as they managed to score 134 runs including 21 home runs. The best of the hitting came from Second Baseman Daryl Lane who managed an average of .337 for the month. As well as the trade the Cowboys also had Right Fielder Angel Freitas missing for some of the month due to a minor injury which meant a stay on the 15 day DL.

St. Louis Comets
The Comets had a great month in May as they went 18-9 to move up 2 places to third in the table. They did this on the back of some superb pitching performances. The who pitching unit only allowed a low 80 runs go past them and the starting rotation managed to keep its ERA down to a nice 4.05 for the month of May. The best of this starting rotation was Jim Snyder who managed a 3-2 record with an ERA of 3.19 for the month. The hitting continued to back this pitching up with some solid performances. They managed to score 114 runs in May with 22 home runs included. The best of this hitting came from Left Fielder Edwin Campbell who managed to hit .395 for the month. The injury front saw Allen Tucker and Dave Casey return from the DL while Right Fielder Carlos Mejia had a bad month where he was injured early in the month for 2 weeks, then come back from that injury only to injure himself again at the end of the month for another 1-2 weeks.

Los Angeles Angels
The Angels continued to play average ball in May as they went 14-15 on the month. This caused them to drop 2 places in the table. The reason that the Angels can only play average ball is that they are not scoring enough runs on the hitting side of the ball. The hitting managed only 104 runs including 30 home runs during May. The best of these was Second Baseman Powell Petty who hit a good .348 for the month. The pitching tried its hardest to cover for the lack of production on the hitting side but couldn't manage it a sthey let 129 runs go past them. The starting rotation kept a good ERA at 3.93. The best of these was Kostya Mishurov who managed a record of 2-2 with an ERA of 3.19. On the injury front the Angels lost Right Fielder Landon Logan mid month for 4 weeks and then a major blow to the starting roatation at the end of the month as Dave Ferguson was injured for 7 months.

Denver Mustangs
The Mustangs had a poor month in May posting a 9-19 record. This was mainly due to the continued struggles of the pitching staff. They allowed a high 140 runs go past them during the month and the starting rotation had a fairly poor ERA of 4.66. This wasnt helped by injuries to 2 of the starting rotation. The best of the pitching came from Ronnie Wright who had a record of 1-1 in 5 game starts with an ERA of 2.39. The hitting tried to cover for the bad pitching but could only manage to post 119 runs including 29 home runs. The best of this solid hitting came from Right Fielder Adam Ellison who managed to post a .361 average. The injury news for the Mustangs was not good on the month as they lost starting pitchers Shane Curry and Thatcher Lee to long term injuries. Curry is out 9 months and Lee is put 3 months.

Seattle Eagles
The Eagles prop up the Liberty Division after a second very poor month going only 8-21 in May. While the month saw a slight improvement in the pitching side of the game the hitting side let them down badly. The hitting managed a paltry 96 runs on the month which included 21 home runs. This was not good as no starter managed to get above .300 for the month. The best of the starters was Third Baseman Michael Harris who posted a .295 average. The pitching tried its best and the starting rotations ERA improved to 4.34 for the month but the unit as a whole still gave up 128 runs. The best from the starting rotation was Raymond George who had a 2-1 record with an ERA of 3.34. The hitting wasn't helped by the fact that the Eagles lost Short Stop Raul Cortes and Centre Fielder Ray Harvey towards the end of the month to injury. Cortes is out 3-4 weeks and Harvey is out 4 weeks.

Justice Division

Phoenix Flames
The Flames continued to sit atop the Justice Division, posting a solid 18-11 record in May. They have done this on the back of strong hitting as they managed to score 144 runs during the month which included 31 home runs. The hitting is being led by superstar Third Baseman Gustavo Paz who hit a marvellous .411 in May. The pitching was not so good in May and didn't live up to the same standards as they hitting. They allowed 136 runs to go past them in the month and the starting rotation continues to post a fairly high 4.52 ERA on the month. The best of the starting rotation is John Walker who went for a record of 5-0 and an ERA of 1.93. The only Injury news of note for the Flames was the activation of Sidney McAlpine from the DL

Kansas City Jazz
The Jazz continued to put the pressure on the Flames at the top of the table as they went 16-12 in May. They did this on the back of some solid pitching. The pitching unit gave up only 102 runs in the month and the starting rotation managed to keep a fairly decent ERA of 4.53. The best of this pitching came from Mitch Austin who had a record of 3-1 and a 4.50 ERA. The hitting still had a solid month as they managed to score 136 runs including 36 home runs. The best of this solid hitting was Catcher Clay Stewart who hit .357 and Right Fielder Daniel Allen who hit .337. The injury news wasn't so good for the Jazz though as they lost Daniel Allen at the end of the month to a 7 week injury.

San Diego Bandits
The Bandits continue to prove that you can play good ball even with major injury worries as they posted a 14-14 record for May. The pitching unit is what is holding them up to this level as it managed to allow only 132 runs to go past them and the starting rotation continued to give a solid ERA of 4.22. The best of this pitching was Floyd White who went 2-0 on the month with an ERA of 2.84. The hitting continues to miss the injured players a little but tries its best to cover for them as they scored 117 runs including 27 home runs. The best of the hitting was First Baseman Leopold Garcia who man-aged an average of .362 in 15 games starts. The injury front for the Bandits saw very little change with Second Baseman Joe Banks returning from DL and Catcher Ryan Marquez joining the injured list for 4 weeks. Leopold Garcia also missed some playing days during themonth with a minor injury.

Portland Orcas
The Orcas continued to play average ball during the month as they went 14-15 in May. The issues for the Orcas still seem to be on the pitching side of the team. This unit allowed 143 runs to get past them during the month and the starting rotation's ERA continues to be stubbornly high at 5.05 in May. This was not helped by injuries this month. The best of them was James Saunders who had a record of 3-3 with an ERA of 4.95. The hitting continues to try its best but only managed 121 runs including 35 home runs. The best of these was Short Stop Anthony Boyd who hit .362 for the month. The injury news was not good for the Orcas as they lost starting pitcher Steve Miller for between 7 and 8 months and also starting pitcher Al Jackson for between 6 and 7 months.

Houston Oilers
The Oilers managed to post a winning record in May of 15-13 but they remain in fifth place in the Justice Division. They did this on the back of a good pitching performance. They let only 102 runs go past them and the starting rotation managed to keep their ERA down to 3.51 in the month. The best of the starting rotation was Dale Roberts who had a record of 4-1 and an ERA of 2.20. If the hitting could find the same form as the pitching then the Oilers could be higher in the table. As it is they managed to find 120 runs in the month including a low 18 home runs. The best of the hitting came from Second Baseman John King who hit .307 during the month. Towards the end of the month the Oilers lost Lee Smyth to injury for 6 weeks.

San Francisco Quakes
The Quakes fans are holding their heads in their hands at what is going on at their ballclub. Firstly they post only a 9-19 record for the month but they also fire both their Manager and General Manager on the same day. The lack of pitching both in the starting rotation and the bullpen is where the problems lie for the new GM and Manager to solve. They allowed a high 156 runs go past them and the starting rotation posted a very poor ERA of 6.83 for the month. They did start to address this with the trading away of Aaron Whitaker but a lot more needs to be done to improve this. The hitting struggled on against this poor pitching by scoring 128 runs in May which included 25 home runs. The best of the hitting was Centre Fielder Barney MacCartney who in 17 games after his return from injury managed a .333 hit average. The injury news for the Quakes was good and bad. The got MacCartney and Catcher Francis Fleming back from the DL but lost Reliever Wayne Harris for 2-3 weeks.
