			It's intriguing stuff. Looks to me like a guy just in from the Connecticut State League in 1909, getting his picture taken after parts of two years in New York City, where he obtained a real haircut! 
 
I like the chin similarity, the nose, and the ear - though I agree the last point is tough because of the angle. Of course he might have posed that way in the photo used on the Colgan's simply because the angle downplayed the effect of the ears.
