Not sure how many folks 'round here follow any of the various YouTube game reviewers/critics/commentators, but I thought I'd share the following, as it pertains to OOTP.
YouTube gaming critic/reviewer TotalBiscuit (1.9 million subscribers) has a biweekly podcast in which he and (usually) three other YouTube game commentators discuss various aspects of games and the gaming industry. In episode #61 of "The Co-Optional Podcast", uploaded to YouTube on Jan. 1st., OOTP got a mention. At one point the discussion in the podcast was about how many hours a guest had put into a particular game, and that brought up the subject of
Football Manager, which for many is a game that soaks up a huge number of hours of game play. TotalBiscuit initially observed there was no U.S. equivalent to
Football Manager, and was corrected by guest PyrionFlax, who mentioned
Out of the Park. At that mention TotalBiscuit then recalled OOTP, and commented on how it is one of the highest rated games of all time on Metacritic. (PyrionFlax also mentioned how he has played a lot of OOTP.)
You can find the video of the podcast on
this page at YouTube. The discussion of
Football Manager starts at 53 minutes in, The mention of OOTP starts at 53:55. I'm sure some folks here will, ah, quibble with part of the way OOTP is described, but overall, it was a positive mention.
I think OOTP is probably not the kind of game that many YouTube game LPers would use for their videos, but gaming-related YouTube channels often have a lot of influence over the wider gaming community, so some positive mention from a larger channel would seem to me to be helpful exposure for OOTP.
