That's 1971; the Redbirds were still wearing button-ups in 1970, but debuted the double-knits in Torre's MVP season.
Beauchamp was one of my favorite anecdotal brief Mets. He was wearing #24 when the Mets acquired Willie Mays, and didn't hold it for ransom or anything, just handed it over. And he was the first Met of French extraction to get his name "properly" pronounced by the Francophone PA announcer in Montreal, being called "Bow-SHOMP" even though he called himself "Beechum". (At tradition later kept up by Bruce Boisclair, "Bo-clair" in his home, but "BWAH-clair" in Quebec.)
