Wwines, JoJo and PW (with great back stories) come up with fun ideas as well, and we can't forget Steve Sax Syndrome's league which was the basis for this thread. Tex has brought to life a lot of under the radar teams from the past, too. There have been so many great contributors.
Maybe it's my vanity kicking in, but I always get a kick out of seeing my name in print like this. I'll have a few more back stories soon as I can, I'm already in the early stages of planning. Might have to straighten my league out a little as well, but we'll see.

I've left off the cities that have MLB teams, but I'm not against including them if it makes more sense. I struggle sometimes with which cities to include - I'd rather have iconic cities than go strictly by population. Burlington is pretty far down the list size-wise, but it seems like a league set in New England should have at least one team from Vermont for instance. This list was the original setup:

Northern League

Auburn-Lewiston
Augusta
Bangor
Burlington
Concord
Manchester
Nashua
Portland

Southern Division

Bridgeport
Hartford
Lowell
New Haven
Providence
Springfield
Stamford
Worcester - (Hearts)

The cities in the Southern Division are quite a bit more populous so maybe they should just be the minor league for the Northern Division. I also feel like I'm leaving off cities that should probably be included like Waterbury and Fall River. Any thoughts or opinions would be really welcome, whether it's a complete setup idea or just a nickname for one of the cities. Thank you in advance for any input.
One of my favorite team names that I've ever come up with was the Augusta Sea Wolves, (I always picture them with a lighthouse built into their stadium in some way). I have trouble putting them into my main league, as I figure they'd be a little too small a city, (and probably a little too close to the Minutemen of Boston as well), but sometimes I just play the "I want it that way" card and just push through. Lately, thinking about using them as a farm club for the Minutemen, actually. Either way, you said thoughts and opinions were welcome, even if it was just a nickname for one of the cities, so I thought I'd mention it.

On a side note, I almost always prefer to go with iconic cities in my leagues. Even though I was nearly a full 20 years away from being born when Ebbetts Field was demolished, it still feels just... wrong... not to have a team from Brooklyn on the list. If it's a full national league, I mean. Oh, and I absolutely LOVE the Hollyood Oscars and Salt Lake City Alpines sets. I've been looking for something like the Hollywood Stars to stick in my universe somewhere, but I didn't want to go with the exact name, for whatever reason. Both of those sets are great.
