2051 IPA PRO CUP SERIES: Game 2
WALESKA EVENS SERIES, EARNEST SPINS 3-0 SHUTOUT
After two games in the IPA Pro Cup Finals, it's all deadlocked at a game apiece... so far the Waleska Westerners and Arlon Champions have swapped shutouts... Trey Earnest spun a 3-0 shutout in game two at Arlon's Derby Downs, stopping the Champs on seven hits... Earnest (4-2/2.83) whiffed four batters and issued no walks in the game... Lonny Gray (3-3/2.15) was the loser... he allowed three runs on six hits in his seven frames, walking nobody and striking out three.
The second batter of the game Waleska RF Denver Shadwell (.200) socked a solo homer and SS Cornell Smithers (.392) singled in a second run in the opening frame, putting the Westerners in the lead 2-0... Waleska tacked on another run in the top of the seventh on three singles by Cordell Smithers, 1B Hershel Briggs (.281) and Earnest (.200).
Smithers paced the Westerners with three hits and Shadwell cracked a pair... leading the Champs at the plate was RF Cary Rockwell (.485) with three base knocks.
