Hal Chase Jr. Would-be minor leaguer who never was
These pictures of Hal Chase Jr., son of the famous/infamous former major league first baseman Hal Chase, appeared in a number of newspapers in 1926 alongside articles that said he had been signed by the Mission team of the Pacific Coast League to report in 1928. Junior was 16 at the time. There is no record of him having played with Mission or any other team in organized ball. Newspaper reports have him reporting to the coach of the University of San Francisco team in 1931 and suggest that he had played either with or against independent/semipro teams in Santa Cruz prior to that. I realize that Junior was not technically a "minor league baseball player" and so may not belong in this thread but I thought the story (so far as I was able to piece it together) was interesting and there is that connection to Daddy Chase.
