As for the ratings, they've actually been around for a few versions, but just never used. I won't go into details, but generally speaking they are used partly to determine personality, and are used as modifiers for morale, and are also used in interaction with the manager, as well as potentially other areas. As you can imagine, someone with a low adaptability rating might not get along so well with a coach who is very strict.
