Bill Atkinson, White Sox
Bill Atkinson was a small right handed pitcher who worked out of the Expos' bullpen for a few years in the late 70's. In the winter of 79-80 he went to the White Sox via purchase. Bill didn't make the big league team out of 1980 spring training. He spent the next four years in the Sox minor league chain, pitching badly in 80-81. Bill pitched well in '82 (11 saves, ERA below 3) but didn't get a call up despite the lack of depth in the Sox bullpen, and he was gone after the next season. Here he is in the old-timey uniform of the Sox in the second Bill Veeck era. The shot could be from spring training in either '80 or '81, though I think the former is more likely.
