As far as I can tell, if a guy is hot, it means his performance recently has far exceed expectations, and he's tearing it up. If he's cold, then that means he hasn't done jack lately.
If a guy is hot, he's in my line-up, no doubt. If a guy is cold, he doesn't necessarily ride the pine, after all, how many managers are going to have their star player on the bench just because he's in a slump? They'll give him a chance to work out of it. That's my theory behind it, right or wrong.
