Set up a new league, preferably not historical, and use a fantasy draft and dont draft good players, draft only 1 to 3 * players only, and set your own house rules. Mine were one good player(MadBum), one good prospect (Corey Seager), no big FA signings. The only FA signings I make are players who struggled last year and I sign them to a one year contract. Then see how long it takes to get back to contention using only the draft, trades and insignificant FA signings. But you can do whatever you want with this, I just thought it would be a neat challenge like an expansion team faces.
