Replacing Jim Unknowns

Morning folks. This is an OOTP15 issue but I'm assuming these procedures hold for OOTP16 and I figure there's more traffic here.

I'm the commissioner of the FOBL and I've discovered an issue with our league file - the presence of Jim Unknowns (JU). Or rather, Jim Unknowns body-snatching what should be retired players.

I *think* I know why this is, and it has to do with the game filling in a JU for a retired player if that player isn't actually found in the retired.dat file (note: Markus, you may want to change that message that you only have to include retired.dat in league files at the end of the year, especially in a league with multiple simmers). There's a long story as to why I think that is but I won't get to it here.

My question: I can identify these Unknowns by looking at the csv dumps. I can also identify who our missing players were by looking at past season dumps. If I attempted to import just these players into the current league file using the import roster functionality, would this overwrite the JUs? Would I then also be able to import their stats if I grabbed them from players_career_batting_stats.csv, etc.?

Ex:

2055 csv entry:
11531 0 0 Jim Unknown 0 NULL

2054 csv entry:
11531 32 100 Curt Newlands 35 4/6/2019

Thanks.
