On July 22, 1966 while with the Angels, Satriano hit a ninth inning, bases-clearing, go-ahead triple that the stadium barely contained, to nail down
then-Angels relief pitcher, Lou Burdette's 200th career win. Burdette reaching 200 wins was never a given and in fact he had been released by the Phillies the previous winter with his career victory total stalled at 195. With a good year for the Angels in '66 (7-2), working out of the bullpen, Burdette barely reached the milestone, finishing his career a year later at age 40, with a final tally of 203-144. Perhaps fittingly, Burdette's 200th win came at Yankee Stadium against the team he had tormented 9 years earlier by going 3-0 for the Milwaukee Braves, with 2 shut outs and 3 complete games, including a shut out in the decisive seventh game of the 1957 World Series.
Given a 6-4 lead by Satriano's blast entering the bottom of the 9th, Burdette finished off the Yankees in order, getting Horace Clarke to hit a harmless fly ball to center fielder, Jose Cardenal for the final out, to complete his 200th win..
Burdette's 200th win would not have happened, or at least it would have been delayed if not for Satriano's clutch hitting that night.
