Alan Schmelz 1967

This is more in the form of a preview; I obtained a collection of color negatives from the '50s and '60s and among dozens of obscure guys I found as I dug into the images tonight, there he is - the Met Who Seemingly Never Was In Color.

I found and posted a candid shot of Schmelz with other Mets pitchers sitting on the turf in spring training 1968, but since neither Topps nor the Mets shot him then or during his cameo in the majors the preceding September, feast your eyes on the first color portrait of Schmelz discovered.

This is a camera snapshot off the negative sitting on a light box; I'll post the real deal after I get it scanned.

By the way unlike the candid shot, this is chronologically correct. The photos are dated March 3, 1967.
