Alan Schmelz 1967
Posted previously in the form of a snapshot taken of the negative on a light board. The portrait is from Spring Training 1967 and the action shot from Spring Training 1968.
Schmelz's key claim to fame might be (or might have been) the absence of any posed color photos of him in a Mets' uniform. Topps didn't get him, J.D. McCarthy didn't get him, the Mets didn't get him (in color, anyway, except in the 1967 Spring Training team picture). But in fact he was one of the first stars from the Arizona State baseball factory of the '60s and '70s to reach the majors, and he was on the school's College World Series champs in 1965. He also played for the Alaska Goldpanners, and played varsity basketball at ASU.
At last report he was hale and hearty and living in Arizona after a successful career in construction, and there's also photographic evidence of him participating in some Mets fantasy camps.
