Tom Carroll 1955
One of the first victims of Baseball's short-sighted "Bonus Rule," Tommy Carroll was signed by the Yankees out of Notre Dame in 1955 and because of the amount of money they gave him in those pre-draft days, he had to spend two seasons on the New York roster.
He was 18.
While this gave him the opportunity to appear in the 1955 World Series as a pinch-runner at the age of 19, it also limited him to 50 games and just 24 plate appearances in his age 18 and 19 seasons (he was in the starting lineup exactly twice). He would only manage .248 in the minors and left the game after the 1960 season to join the U.S. State Department and later serve as a diplomat in a series of Latin American nations.
When the Yankees finally bailed out on him in April of 1959, they dealt him to (who else) the A's. I've never seen him in color in their uniform before, yet there he was, in that collection I mentioned:
