In 1965, mere days after beginning his pro career as a Senators' free agent, he was acquired by the Kansas City Athletics. Johnson, a right-hander, never got above Double-A before ending his career in 1969. But after going 6-1, 2.15 in limited 1966 action, he was still promising enough a prospect to be invited to spring training in 1967, which was when this photo was made.
