The reaper is working overtime this year. Ron Stillwell, briefly an infielder with the Washington Senators in 1961 and 1962 and the father of Kurt Stillwell,
passed away on Monday after a battle with cancer. He was 76.
Ron's career ended prematurely when he collided with a left fielder as they both went for a pop up. Ron suffered an eye injury in the collision and his vision never recovered sufficiently to continue his playing career, though he had a long and successful career as a high school and college baseball coach.
Ron is another short-timer whose only cardboard appearance as a major leaguer came with the One Year Winners set.
There's a nice B&W postcard of Ron with the Syracuse Chiefs currently up on eBay which I'll post to the minor league thread.
