Al Warner 1898 Missing Umpire
From the August 21, 1901 St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Retrosheet has him as Albert H. Warner rather than Al J. Warner, but it must be the same fellow, as he is an umpire out of St. Louis. An article in the Alton (IL) Telegraph of August 4, 1898 said that the National League umpire Al Warner was a glass-blower by trade, and the August 21, 1901 Post-Dispatch caption accompanying this photo also mentioned his being a glass-blower.
