I'll just point something out:
Unlike with the major league clubs, there isn't a reliable history of minor league franchises (no doubt due to the sheer number of minor league clubs that have existed). Sources sometimes don't agree if a club was a franchise shift replaced by an expansion club in the vacated city, or if the club in the new city is the expansion club.

Ah, a misconception that I must clear up.
The Dixie Association was a one-year temporary merger of the Southern and Texas Leagues in 1971 due to each league dropping to 7 clubs. While many reference sources list the standings separately, as two 7-team leagues,
this is NOT correct in regards to how they operated that year. While there was some retention of league individuality, overall, it was a combined 14-team, three-division league which played a unified playing schedule, and used an NFL-style playoff system (three division winners plus one wild card club*). Contemporary sources such as
The Sporting News clearly show this in its published standings for the Association.
*Sources often list the playoffs as if two clubs in the Southern League played against each other, and two clubs in the Texas League squaring off, with the winners of those series playing against each other. That was only due to the way the records of the qualifying clubs happened to work out in the Dixie Association's three divisions. If the records of the qualifying clubs been different, the match-ups would have been different. Again, contemporary
