1961: Joe D. and his heir
Spring training, 1961. Then, as now, college students flocked to Florida for their spring break, and a Yale undergrad by the name of Joe DiMaggio Jr. spent a few days in the Yankees' camp, even getting some tips from his Hall of Famer father.
The son of Joe's first wife, Dorothy Arnold, he and his dad were estranged late in Joe's life, but was one of his pallbearers during Joe Sr.'s funeral in March of 1999. But suffering from the effects of years of drug and alcohol abuse, Joe Jr. only outlived his dad by four months, passing away in August, 1999, at the age of 57.
